  • Boer goat project is one of the "948" projects of Ministry of Agriculture, a project of "Introduction of Boer goats to speed up China's goat industrialization", and is introduced into China to improve the local goat breed for meat purpose. Boer goat has a particular appearance and shape: white of trunk, redish or brownish head with a white band, redish or brownish spots on neck, chest and abdomen, short or middle length coat with bright luster. Some Boer goats are all brown-redish; extruded horns with beautiful curves; wide and drooped ears. The trunks are cylinder-shaped with muscle embonpoint. The limbs are short and strong. Boer goats grow rapidly. Six month old Boer goats reach 30kg, and are ready for sale. Fig 1 shows the body weight parameters of Boer goats at different growth stages.
